The Heckscher Museum of Art prides itself on its renowned exhibitions and educational programming and recognizes that all visitors benefit from participating in engaging and immersive experiences.
The "Create Your Own" Activity Station located in the Central Gallery invites visitors of all ages to respond to artwork on view through creative hands-on activities. Select works of art created at this station are featured in the Museum's Visitors Online Art Gallery. "Create Your Own" Activities rotate with the changing exhibitions, so there is always new and exciting artwork both in the galleries and in the Visitors Online Art Gallery. The works of art were created during the "Create Your Own" Picnic Art hands-on activity in the galleries during the exhibitionLong Island's Best: Young Artists at The Heckscher Museum 2014. Inspired by Picnic at the Museum, a sculpture by Huntington High School student Nina Flores, visitors of all ages were invited to create their own picnic artwork.
